John Lane

John is currently a founder and Chairman of Cartula International. John is also director of the object database company Eloquera.

John’s career started in the mid-sixties with IBM where he worked for 10 years in Australia and Canada.

After leaving IBM he was a foundation IT professional for Fujitsu in Australia. At the time Fujitsu had no IT presence outside of Japan and John worked directly with Fujitsu Japan to establish their overseas large systems market. The landmark success was the sale of giant mainframes to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Following that John established Amdahl in Australia who soon became a major supplier of large systems to Government and business. Clients included Qantas, GMH, Department of Social Security and many others.

Since leaving the corporate IT world John has had a number of personal ventures including being Oracle’s first overseas distributor. His experience with complex sales and marketing activities and in managing startup situations is ideally suited for Cartula’s market objectives.

Bill Vargas

Bill has over 30 years of professional ICT experience specialising in the health care sector and has been recognised as an expert authority on technology matters.

He possesses proven skills in management, strategic planning, innovation and software development. Has managed and implemented a vast range of ICT systems which include EMRs, PACS (Medical Imaging), Oracle e-Business suite (Financials, HR, Procurement), Patient Billing, as well as the ICT infrastructure within a large health organisation. (data centres, networks, devices, etc.).

Previous roles include, CIO of The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN), IT manager and application developer.  Also, was previously Chair of the NSW Health CIO Executive committee and member of various other state committees.

 

Some of the key accomplishments he has led are:

  • Pilot site first to implement the NSW Health Electronic Health Record (HealtheNet), NSW Health Enterprise Imaging Repository (EIR) and integration to the National Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record – PCEHR (now MyHealthRecord).
  • Developed Mobility solutions, clinical systems and Mobile apps (HealtheCare, iBill).
  • Lead site for the implementation of Electronic Medical Record and Medications Management (Cerner). 
  • Implementation of a full Electronic Medical Record for Oncology, including medications. SCHN was the first paediatric Oncology Cerner site in the world.
  • Implementation of Document Imaging (scanned patient’s paper medical record) across SCHN making all records available electronically.

Ian Pridham

Ian possesses deep Digital Strategy and Transformation experience, acquired initially in the Finance and Telco industries, transitioning to Health in 2019.
 
He has worked with government, commercial and academic organisations of all sizes, and held diverse roles ranging from purely managerial – including heading departments, acting as Strategic IT Consultant and Program Director – through to leading technical teams such as Enterprise Architects, Data Scientists and Software Engineering groups.
 
As Director of Technology, Ian led product research & development for OUTBREAK, tackling the global health threat of AMR (antimicrobial resistance) using AI and One Health science (the interdependence of people, animals, plants and the environment). The central product for OUTBREAK was an AI based Knowledge Engine to track and predict emerging AMR threats and provide rapid best-treatment recommendations to government, industry and the community.
 
He also assisted CRC SAAFE (the Cooperative Research Centre for Solving Antimicrobial resistance in Agribusiness, Food and Environments) – a 70 partner organisation across government, industry and academia – to win their 10 year funding and then then acted as Research Operations Manager during the startup phase.
 
Ian is now CIO for Cartula and is not only critical to research & development of Cartula’s technology offerings, but also a key player in Cartula’s Health Advisory roles.

Vimal V is also the Director of Cartula International, Founder and CEO of Cartula Health India Pvt Ltd, Avidly committed to transforming Indian healthcare system through technological advancements, he is accelerating positive transformation for affordable and accessible healthcare service across the Indian landscape.

Driving Philanthropic Initiatives – Vimal V set up a foundry in Jamnagar, India, to generate employment, and internships.
In addition to ground-breaking industrial ventures, he is also an investor, with investments in the real estate, tourism, hospitality, and health care sectors across the globe.

Influencing Global Healthcare and Skill Development Vimal V has collaborated with AICTE, Mahatma Gandhi Rural Education and MESC for setting benchmark for innovative healthcare. An Entrepreneur supporting affordable and accessible healthcare – One of his initiatives, Micro Labs, aims to cater to the last mile.

Dr Ralph Hanson

Ralph is a Paediatrician and was a Senior Staff Specialist at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and has a good understanding of the impact of digital
health on clinical practice.
 

He was Deputy Chair of the RACP eHealth Advisory Group, provided ehealth policy advice to the College and has a long history of participation in NSW Health Clinical Casemix and IT Clinical initiatives at a State and National level.

Ralph brings over 30 years of clinical and management experience in Health.  He has nurtured an extensive clinical network which extends to all craft groups. He is recognised as having been in a unique position as one of the early clinicians in Australia to also have had experience as a CIO leading innovative programs.

Ralph was most recently the Director of Information Services and Planning at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He retired from the Hospital in 2011 after 30 years of service. He is currently an independent Consultant and Director of Hanwood Solutions and Clinical Lead at Cartula. He was instrumental with Bill Vargas in the development of Healthecare, the foundational clinical system being progressed to the next stage by Cartula. 

Ralph was awarded the annual Medal of Distinction by the Children’s Healthcare, Australasia for his services to Child Health in 2011.

Professor Di Brown, AO, PhD, RN

Di Brown is a Professor of Nursing with a national and international reputation in nursing leadership and nursing education. She has extensive experience as a clinician and academic both in Australia and the Asia-Pacific.

Di has built her reputation around effectively leading and managing change in a variety of settings. She has undertaken consultancies with organisations such as the WHO, the World Bank, AusAID and various universities within and outside of Australia. Di has worked extensively in the Asia-Pacific and has successfully led many health improvement projects both locally and regionally. She understands the challenges of working in low-resource environments and has worked collaboratively with regional colleagues to improve health service provision across a range of healthcare settings.

Di is a Professorial Fellow at Charles Darwin University, an adjunct Professor at the University of Technology, Sydney and a Visiting Professor of the University of Indonesia. 

In 2015 Di was made an Officer (AO) in the General Division in the Order of Australia, an honour awarded in recognition of her distinguished service, over many years, to nursing through the delivery of quality care, professional development and nursing education, and to the international advancement of the profession throughout Asia and the South Pacific.

Di now sits on the Advisory Board for Cartula Health.

Eka Chandra Setiadi

Mr Chandra is an Indonesian businessman based in Jakarta.

Mr Chandra has extensive experience in operating businesses across Indonesia. In particular he has expertise in foreign language education, health clinics and hotel management.

Mr Chandra currently works for Cartula Health Indonesia (CHI) as Director. Mr Chandra provides strategic advice and direction to CHI with a view to enabling CHI’s Indonesian success.

Dr. Erfen Gustiawan Suwangto, MD, JD, LLM.

Erfen is a lecturer of health law and primary care at the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia and the Secretary of the Medical Research Ethics Committee. He is a visiting lecturer for postgraduate medical students at both the University of Indonesia and Gadjah Mada University.

He is involved in Indonesia Health Ministry Workteam of Primary Care Development and Medical Ethics Honorary Board of Indonesian Medical Association in Jakarta. Erfenis also the first Director of Atma Jaya Institute for Networking Development of Primary Care Clinics which is managing clinics in Jakarta and its suburbs. These clinics don’t just focus on important health issues, but also empower students and the community to better understand heath matters.

He was awarded an Australian Awards Fellowship by Australian Government to study primary care development in Flinders University. He is also a member of World Association for Medical Law and Chairman of Rajakumar Movement, Young Doctors Movement in Asia Pacific (a suborganization of World Organization of Family Doctors). He became Chief of Organizational Affairs at the Indonesia Association of Family Medicine and a legal consultant at the Cooperation Body of Indonesia Association of Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Community Medicine, and Public Health.

In his spare time, he is also an active volunteer of Lions Club International and National Democratic Organization for Health Professionals. Erfen is also a Ph.D student of AUSN in Bioethics, Sustainability, and Global Public Health in Arizona, USA.

He is currently the CEO of Cartula Health Indonesia.

Dr. Fainal Wirawan MM. MARS

Dr Fainal graduated with a Master of Management and Hospital Administration Masters from the University of Indonesia.

Dr Fainal has worked as the head of a sub-district health centre, a doctor in a hospital, and a Ministry of Health official.

After retiring he joined the KNCV Tuberculosis foundation. Dr Fainal helped the Indonesian Ministry of Health tackle the growing tuberculosis problem.

He has participated in the TB Infection Prevention and Control (PPI TB) training organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and was a member of the team who created the TB PPI Guidelines in the Health Service Facility, Ministry of Health.

Dr Fainal is currently a coach for the Indonesian KNCV Foundation, a consultant at the USAID TB Challenge, and Clinical Lead for Cartula Health Indonesia.
